Challenge

Built more than 100 years ago, this boutique hotel in Atlanta’s Midtown district offers a unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities. Maintaining its aesthetic appeal and structural integrity, however, is a constant endeavor as pollution, dirt, and grime accumulation accelerate wear and tear.

The property management team faced constant water intrusion issues at the East stair tower on the roof side of the penthouse. They reached out to Valcourt for help. We recommended pressure washing and an application of a silicone translucent coating to protect the brickwork from moisture and other environmental factors while maintaining its natural appearance.

Upon contract approval, our team mobilized quickly to complete the work within our client’s tight timeframe.

Solution

Our team pressure washed and cleaned the brick to remove dirt, grime, and mold, restoring its original appearance. We also skillfully removed existing sealant that had been smeared on the wall, taking care to avoid damaging the brick surface.

Following the successful completion of work on the roof side of the East stair tower, our client selected our team to apply a translucent coating system to the remaining East tower, replace sealants on the North stair tower, and complete EIFS restoration and coating.

Our client was greatly satisfied with our workmanship, recognizing that these repairs not only enhance aesthetic appeal but also bolster structural integrity. They plan to continue working with us to preserve the building’s legacy and ensure its continual enjoyment.
